Sweet child o who now?
I have always wanted to be better in listening to music and especially in understanding the lyrics. I decided to practise that skill by listening to the lyrics of Sweet Child O' Mine by Guns N' Roses several times and try to write down the lyrics as accurately as possible. I chose the song because I have heard it many, many times and I like it, but I don't understand what it is about, and I have only understood few of its lines.
During the first listening I paused pretty often to write down what I had heard, but the other times I just filled in while the music was still on.
First listening:
she got smile that seem to me reminds me of childhood memories
where ever SOMETHING bright blue sky
now and then when i see her face she takes me away to that special place
and if i stand too long SOMETHING and cry
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
she got eyes of the bluish skies (?)
SOMETHING brain (ok now im confused)
SOMETHING look into those eyes
and see SOMETHING
her SOMEHTING reminds me of a one safe place
where SOMEHTING daiai
and SOMEHTING and the rain SOMEHTING past the raiai
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
wo o o o sweet child o mine
o yeah yeah
woo sweet child o mine
(After this it's pretty much only "where do we go now" so I will stop here)
Second listening:
she got smile that it seems to me reminds me of childhood memories
where ever SOMETHING bright blue sky
now and then when i see her face she takes me away to that special place
and if i stand too long i'd probably break down and cry
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
she got eyes of the bluish skies
and live they tobrain
i hate to look into those eyes
and see SOMETHING
her SOMEHTING reminds me of a one safe place
where eyes daiai
and pray SOMEHTING and the rain SOMEHTING past the raiai
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
wo o o o sweet child o mine
o yeah yeah
woo sweet child o mine
Third listening:
she got smile that it seems to me reminds me of childhood memories
where ever they want to press the bright blue sky
now and then when i see her face she takes me away to that special place
and if i stand too long i'd probably break down and cry
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
she got eyes of the bluish skies (?)
and live they to SOMEHTING brain
i hate to look into those eyes
and see amount of pain
her SOMEHTING reminds me of a one safe place
where eyes daiai
and pray for the and the rain SOMEHTING past the raiai
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
wo o o o sweet child o mine
o yeah yeah
woo sweet child o mine
Fourth listening:
she got smile that it seems to me reminds me of childhood memories
where ever they want this press the bright blue sky
now and then when i see her face she takes me away to that special place
and if i stand too long i'd probably break down and cry
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
she got eyes of the bluish skies (?)
and live they to thought the brain
i hate to look into those eyes
and see amount of pain
her every reminds me of a one safe place
where eyes daiai
and pray for the thunder and the rain SOMEHTING past the raiai
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
wo o o o sweet child o mine
o yeah yeah
woo sweet child o mine
Fifth listening and corrections:
she got smile that it seems to me reminds me of childhood memories
where ever they want this presses the bright blue sky (where everything
was as fresh as the bright blue sky)
now and then when i see her face she takes me away to that special place
and if i stand (stare) too long i'd probably break down and cry
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child (love) o mine
she got eyes of the bluish (bluest) skies
and live they thought the brain (as if they thought of rain)
i hate to look into those eyes
and see amount (an ounce) of pain
her every reminds me of a one safe place (her hair reminds me of a warm safe place)
where eyes daiai (where as a child i'd hide)
and pray for the thunder and the rain get widely past the raiai (to quietly pass me by)
woo sweet child o mine
woo o o o sweet child o mine
wo o o o sweet child o mine
o yeah yeah
woo sweet child o mine
I chose to correct only those lines where the different spelling is important for the meaning, so for example if the lyrics said "she's got" and I said "she got" I didn't correct it.
Even though I made a lot of mistakes I was quite proud of myself and I found this surprisingly educational. This was also kind of fun, so I will definetely do something like this again.
