Chatting
I texted with my boyfriend for 50 minutes in English the other day. The goal was to normalize English in use also in written form, since many of my support groups concentrate only on speaking. It definetely felt kind of weird, since I usually talk with him in Finnish. One observation I made was that in school we are taught to speak and write formal and proper English, so I don't really know how youngsters really chat in English. I mean, we don't write "Haluatko nähdä tänään?" but "nähääks tnä", so I assume they don't either, but I don't really know how they do it. I actually would like to know some more English slang, because if I ever live abroad I don't want to come across too formal, because that might seem a bit intimidating and distant. On the other hand, maybe I'll learn it by using English with natives, so I don't have to worry about that beforehand.
